What Didn't Make The Cut

Hey ho! Did not actually realise how long it'd been since my last post. I've been incredibly busy yet again with work, site updates, preparing for my birthday and of course...... Designing.

So this week I decided ..... Lemme show yall some of the designs living in my draft folder

Okay so this piece of art here.... Received good feedback but I couldn't quite work out what product to put it on.

Didn't think it would suit a t-shirt or bottle, I'm not in the Tote Bag business at this stage and whilst it might make a good art print, it doesn't fit in with the style of art I'm currently selling.

So alas for now I have no home for it. Still love how the design came out and especially the way the colours pop out. Water is by no means easy to draw or colour as you want to make sure it doesn't look too samey but that the colours also match. And I wanted all of the colours to fit a certain tone and style so they all meshed well together. Nothing too bright, nothing too dark.

Okay so this I came up with when I went through a very brief anime phase.

I think I came up with 4 different anime pieces to go on various products like blankets, phone cases, laptop cases, stickers.... and within a month I got rid of them all. Anime is not a genre I'm overly familiar with. It looks cool and futuristic as I was aiming for a type of Blade Runner/ Second Star Wars trilogy set piece with this work. But again anime isn't a genre I'm familiar with so it felt more like I was making art to go onto products that would sell well, as opposed to making art that I actually believe in and naturally go onto particular products. The difference between the two? The latter is what fuels my creativity whilst the former sends me into massive creative funks so had to go.

This is when I went through one of my many phases of trying to make Kid products.

It looks cute but incredibly basic. So that was problem one. I don't have any kids nor do I know anything about what's cool or trending in that field. So that was problem two.

I know that kid products can be a big seller but.... It's just not for me at this stage. Somewhat falls into the same category as the above, making designs with the aim of selling products as opposed to a natural interest. And someone has probably done a design like this a thousand times over, making it quite generic which would also be an issue for me.

I like being Sassy and unique sue me.
